John Cusack Honored with Hollywood Star
Shameless star Joan Cusack gave a touching speech when her brother
John Cusack received his star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame on Tuesday. Also
joining the celebration were his friends and former co-stars Luke Evans
(The Raven), Billy Bob Thornton, Dan Aykroyd and Jack Black. So
I wonder, will the hunky Chris Hemsworth show up when his The Avengers
co-star Scarlett Johansson gets the same treatment on May 2nd. The ceremony
will take place at 11:30 at 6931 Hollywood Blvd.
On the evening of May 2nd, GCB star Kristin Chenoweth and
Jonathan Silverman make guest appearances on TV Land's Hot In Cleveland.
On GCB, Kristin's character lives across the street from GG played
by Annie Potts, and in the upcoming comedy film Family Weekend she
co-stars with Shirley Jones who also plays a character named GG.
OMG! Look for Kristin in the action comedy Hit and Run, co directed
by Dax Shepard and buddy David Palmer. Shepard stars as an ex getaway driver
in the witness protection program who goes on the run with his girlfriend.
Shepard reunites with his When in Rome co-star Kristen Bell, with
a cast rounded out by Bradley Cooper, Smallville vet Michael Rosenbaum,
Beau Bridges and Tom Arnold.
He played the adorable Gay Angelo in Mambo Italiano, but for
his next film, Take This Waltz, Luke Kirby offers a heterosexual
heart to Michelle Williams. The former Marilyn Monroe plays a woman, married
to Seth Rogen who falls for Kirby's artist character who lives next door.
Directed by actress Sarah Polley, the film will be available via View on
Demand May 25th, and gets a limited theatrical release on June 29. Kirby's
love interest in Mambo Italiano Peter Miller joins Being Human
cast member Vincent Leclerc and ex The Tudors actor Lothaire Bluteau
in the Canadian film Rouge Sang.
Former Dancing with the Stars contestant, Carson Kressley
joins Carrie Fisher in the holiday telefilm It's Christmas, Carol,
for prolific Lifetime cable movie director Michael Scott. Kressley's Queer
Eye for the Straight Guy co-star Jai Rodriguez recently filmed the
proposed Reba McIntire series Malibu Country. The ABC pilot features
Sara Rue, Lily Tomlin, and ex-Desperate Housewives cast member Jeffrey
Nordling.
Sordid Lives vet Beth Grant plays the fabulously named Willadean
Winkler in The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife.
Grant is producing this film version of the play of the same name, which
is being directed by it's author Del Shores. The project costars other
Sordid
Lives alums Dale Dickey and David Steen plus Oscar winner Octavia Spencer.
Filming in Atlanta, the story focuses on an abused housewife who tries
to free herself from her torment and guilt.
Octavia's fellow Oscar winner Christopher Plummer goes from a late blooming
Gay man in Beginners to playing the grandfather of Drew Barrymore
in the film version of William Luce's play Barrymore. The former
Von Trapp family patriarch also appears in Muhammad Ali's Greatest Fight
for
My Beautiful Laundrette director Stephen Frears. The HBO film looks
at the boxer's refusal to join the military and fight outside of the ring
co-stars Danny Glover, Ed Begley Jr., Frank Langella and Benjamin Walker
from the upcoming film Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
The Sy Fy channel airs a new version of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic
novel Treasure Island on May 5. The latest look at Captain Long
John Silver and his pirate buddies star Eddie Izzard as the peg legged
scalawag with costar Elijah Wood, Red Tail's Rupert Penry-Jones,
Shaun Parkes from The River and The Hunger Games' Donald
Sutherland.
Game of Thrones fans have grown fond of actor Alfie Allen who
plays Stark family ward, Theon Greyjoy and not just because of his popular
nude scenes. Prior to being cast on the show, Allen had a following from
simply being the subject of his sister, singer Lily Allen's 2006 single
'Alfie' which detailed his pot and video game addicted life. Alfie's father
is British actor Keith Allen who played Irving Berlin in the film De-Lovely,
while his mother, Alison Owen was Executive Producer on Shaun of the
Dead. Allen's Game of Thrones costar Nikolaj Coster-Waldau will
appear with Tom Cruise in Oblivion, the film version of Joseph Kosinski's
graphic novel. The story takes a soldier to a distant planet where his
mission is to destroy and alien race. The cast also features Magic City's
Olga Kurylenko, Morgan Freeman and Oscar winner Melissa Leo.
Aidan Gillen, who plays brothel owner Petyr Baelish in Game of Thrones
joins Bridesmaids star Chris O'Dowd and Harry Potter vet
Brendan Gleeson in the comedy Cavalry. The premise centers on a
priest who is threatened during a confession. Gillen, who got his start
in the original UK version of Queer As Folk will be seen as a CIA
Agent in this summer's The Dark Knight Rises.
The mother of Game of Thrones' King Joffrey, Lena Headey teams
with Star Trek's Karl Urban & Harry Potter and the Deathly
Hallow's Domhnall Gleeson in Dredd, the upcoming remake of Judge
Dredd. Headey appears with Emily Watson and Pushing Daisies vet
Anna Friel in The Poisoners, about a group of WWII English women
who become romantically involved with German prisoners of war. Karl Urban
joins another Game of Thrones star, Emilia Clarke in the action
thriller Overdrive, about car thief brothers in the South of France.
One could call it a Victorian Victor/Victoria, as the plot in
Of
Corset's Mine follows a womanizer who poses as a lady in order to protect
his family's finances. My Best Friend's Wedding scene stealer Rupert
Everett stars with Alfred Molina, Derek Jacobi and The Chronicles of
Narnia's Prince, Williams Moseley. The project will film in Ireland
for director Jason Connery (son of Sean) from a story by Sharon SoBoil.
For a local perspective, Sharon is married to Andy, the owner of my favorite
WeHo burger place - O! Burger. And I'm not the only one, numerous Hollywood
A-list celebrities frequent the Santa Monica Blvd. diner including Orlando
Bloom, P. Diddy, Jodi Foster and Armie Hammer.
