The Gifts of Prometheus
Prometheus star Logan Marshall Green joins Milk's James
Franco and Oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg in the film version of the novel
Black
Dog Red Dog. Another project will feature Logan as Tennesse Williams
in the film Lonely Hunter, a planned 2013 biographical film about Southern
novelist Carson McCullers, played by Sucker Punch vet Jena Malone.
After the success of her book 'The Heart is a Lonely Hunter,' she lived
in Paris for a few years where she hung out with the likes of Williams
and Truman Capote. For those who saw Prometheus and found
Logan an new object of their adorations, here's a little trinket you can
ad to your fantasies. Logan has a twin brother named Tyler Marshall Green.
I was most surprised to learn that the new BBC America miniseries Inside
Men, debuting June 20th is not about a Gay proctologist. Featuring
Luther
vets Steven Mackintosh and Warren Brown plus Outcast's hunky Ashley
Walters the series centers on million dollar/pound robbery at a security
firm.
Who could have imagined an interest in a reunion of people involved
with the 1975 box office bomb musical At Long Last Love. Leave it
to director Peter Bogdanovich to bring back it's cast members, The L
Word vet Cybill Shepherd and Burt Reynolds for his next film One
Lucky Moon. With no Cole Porter songs in sight, this intentional comedy
looks at a Western Town amusement park which is in the way of a new mall
development. The cast also features Willie Nelson, Tom Petty and an actress
whose name has been the envy of drag queens the world over, Collen Camp.
On the subject of drag queen. It's Sequin-poloza time as LOGO starts
another season of RuPaul's Drag Race on June 18. Among the many
positive things that can be said about Ru Paul, he's a rare drag performer
who has equally good taste in male and female clothing. You'd think the
guy was going to a movie premiere when he recently popped into the WeHo
Target store. Also on June 18, author Dan Bucantinsky signs copies of his
book 'Does This Baby Make Me Look Straight?' at the Barnes & Noble
at The Grove at 7pm.
It's a trio of Gay role vets in Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman's upcoming
film on porn star Linda Lovelace. Going simply by the title, Lovelace,
the film stars Will & Grace vet Bobby Cannavale, Howl
star James Franco and The Birdcage scene stealer Hank Azaria. Currently
filming around LA, the picture features an amazing cast with Mamma Mia
alum Amanda Seyfried, The Hunger Games Wes Bentley, Kaboom's
Juno Temple, plus Sharon Stone, The OC's Adam Brody as porn star
Harry Reems and Sex and the City's Sarah Jessica Parker as Gloria
Steinem. Now isn't that hard to swallow.
Am I the only one who raised an eyebrow at the recent 'The Final 14'
episode of The Glee Project? The concluding music video, featured
finalists singing Lady Gaga's The Edge of Glory as they arrived in Hollywood.
One at the Pantages Theatre, another cruising down Sunset Blvd or passing
the Paladium and other cliched images. Yet for some reason, they chose
to show transgender, female to male pre-op contestant Tyler, buying a hot
dog from a street vendor. Really? That's not a Freudian slip, that's a
Freudian Kaftan.
Singer Leann Rimes joins the Gay Mens Chorus of LA in a performance
at Beverly Hills' Saban Theatre on June 23rd. The next day brings a beef-tacular
event on June 24 when downtown's LA Live hosts the premiere of the Magic
Mike. Based on the earlier career of actor Channing Tatum, who also
stars, the event will hopefully offer live appearances by fellow cast members
White
Collar's Matt Bomer, True Blood's Joe Manganiello,
CSI Miami's
Adam Rodriguez, Beastly star Alex Pettyfer and Matthew McConaughey.
In non- male stripper roles there is Queer As Folk alum Michelle
Clunie, Comedian Gabriel Iglesias and Elvis Presley's granddaughter Riley
Keough. The film, unlike it's lead stars, opens wide on June 29th.
Someone who could be a stripper, Mark Wahlberg is expected at the June
21st Grauman's Chinese Theatre premiere of his new comedy film Ted.
Family
Guy's Seth MacFarlane voices the character of Mark's real living Teddy
Bear which came to life through a childhood wish. Now an adult with a girlfriend,
Mark's character finds the obnoxious truck driver personality plush toy
is becoming a problem. Other cast members who may appears at the screen
are Black Swan vet Mila Kunis, V star Laura Vandervoort,
Avatar's
Giovanni Ribisi, and Community's Joel McHale.
If you are a Muppet fan or just a fan of improvisational comedy, DO
NOT MISS the two show of Henson Alternative's Stuffed and Unstrung,
formerly known as Puppet Up, at the Largo at the Coronet on June
25. Following the wake of sold out shows in New York and Chicago, the show
features about a half dozen puppeteers who, with the help of co-creator
comedian Patrick Bristow, take audience suggestions for comedy skits while
selecting from 40 different Henson puppets. Their most recent show had
me in hysterics throughout. One skit, about a Gay son who returns home
as a zombie, had the mother notice him on her lawn with other members of
the living dead. The skit ended with her genius line of "Oh darn, leave
it to Gay zombies to organize."
On the subject of horror. One week after MTV debuts the spin-off reality
series Snooki and JWoww, TLC brings the new Tori Spelling reality
show called Craft Wars on June. 26. WOWW, Halloween came early this
year. On the following night MTV airs the latest version of The Real
World this one set in the island of St. Thomas. Is that the one named
after Marlo?
Comic Book and Spider-Man fans will be lining up around the Regency
Village Theater in Westwood Village on June 28 for the premiere of The
Amazing Spider-Man. Someone who that would surprise no one if seen
wearing Spider-Man tights or even Underoos, Russell Brand, gets his own
late night chat show starting June 28 on FX.
The brooding and beautiful star of Gus Van Sant's Elephant, John
Robinson joins Lou Taylor Pucci and Jeffrey vet Steven Weber in the independent
The
Movie about a young man's experiences in LA. Robinson will be seen
with The Lord of the Rings icon Sean Astin and Twilight's
Michael Welch in the military thriller The Boys of Abu Graib. The
story follows a solider at the notorius Iraqi prison who befriends an Iraqi
detainee.
A beauty of another kind is actor Matt Barr who many fell in love with
from his not frequent enough shirtless scenes in the recent mini series
Hatfields and McCoys. Barr is both star and Executive Producer for a planned
film version of the Jim Dent book 12 Mighty Orphans.
