Gay Romance Comes to Glee

Apparently Paul Walker has been letting his body go. At least that appears to be what producers thought on his recent film Takers. I don't mean to say Paul's next job will be a Jabba the Hut look-alike, but I found it interesting to learn Beverly Hills 90210 star Trevor Donovan was used as Paul's body double in the film.  Returning from a recent trip via LAX, Paul looked quite dashing but I guess the filmmakers are counting abs in addition to calories.  On another note,  Donovan's 90210 character, Teddy Montgomery will be embracing his Gay desires this season. Wow, we had to wait until the third season for this? *** The revival of Hawaii 5-0 returns to CBS on 9/20 with virtual smorgasbord of guy candy. The cast features Alex O'Loughlin (The Back-Up Plan,) Scott Caan (Oceans Thirteen,)  James Marsters (Buffy, the Vampire Slayer,) and my personal favorite Daniel Dae Kim (Lost)  or as they say in Minnesota - "Ooofta, Ooofta!" And for the girls there is Grace Park from Battlestar Galactica and fans of Designing Women will have to tune in just to see Jean Smart play the Governor. *** Also debuting on the 20th is the NBC series The Chase featuring Desperate Housewives veteran Jesse Metcalffe and Amaury Nolasco (Prison Break.) The series follows U.S. Marshals but takes a different spin on the procedural crime drama by putting a greater focus on the criminals being pursued. ***

Before his recent Emmy win, Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) was well on his well to a successful film career. He recently completed the competitive bird watching comedy The Big Year with a top-notch cast. Joining Jim on the avian search are Owen Wilson, Jack Black, Steve Martin, Joel McHale, Dianne Weist, Angelica Huston and Kevin Pollack. Wow! What an ensemble.  If fine feathered friends don't float your hunting boat, you may change your mind when I tell you that the project was directed by David Frankel of The Devil Wears Prada fame.  *** Eamonn Walker (Oz) joins Rob Morrow (Northern Exposure) and Maura Tierney (ER) for the legal drama The Whole Truth, coming to ABC September 22nd. Fans of the Oz will remember Walker for his scene stealing role as Karem Said. ***  Law & Order finally comes to L.A. but don't get too excited, it's just one more loop in the long chain of NBC legal dramas. Titled Law & Order: Los Angeles, the cast consists of Alfred Molina (Prick Up Your Ears) and Skeet Ulrich (As Good As It Gets.) Making it's first appearance in the prime time line-up September 29th, it will feature additional cast members such as Terrence Howard (Iron Man,) Wanda De Jesus (CSI: Miami,) and Oded Fehr (The Mummy.) ***

If you like quirky movies, check out the 9/28 dvd release of the Canadian film Suck. It's the tale of a rock n roll band that will do anything to get famous. Wait a minute, that seems familiar, didn't this band use to go by the name of Jersey Shore? If you like quirky AND rock n roll, get a load of the cast. There's Henry Rollins, Iggy Pop, Moby and Alice Cooper plus Dave Foley (Will & Grace,)  and Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange.) ***  Aretha Franklin has announced that she'd like to see Halle Berry portray her in a biographical film. Now don't laugh, it's possible. Really, as long as Halle performed the role while perched piggy-back on Kathy Bates. Now before anybody gets their mumus in a knot at the comment it's sarcasm at the Hollywood concept, which miss Franklin propagates. It's the 21st century but showbiz movers and shakers still think, that to sell a movie you need a well known stick figure actress to play a talented full figure gal. Let's show a little R*E*S*P*E* C*T for Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe? ***  Currently filming a documentary on Michael Jackson, his father Joe claims that he used to spank Michael in order to keep him out of gangs. Since when was the Girl Scouts considered a gang?  ***  HBO brings back Bored To Death starring Ted Danson and Francis Ford Coppola's nephew Jason Schwartzman on September 26th. This second season will feature guest appearances by ever-youthful Kevin Bacon, plus Oscar-winners F. Murray Abraham (The Ritz,) & Olympia Dukakis (Tales of the City.) ***

Peter Paige (Queer as Folk) just finished doing an episode of The Closer in which he plays a not-as-nice-as Emmett criminal. You can catch him wearing a not flattering orange jumpsuit when it airs on the Monday after Thanksgiving. *** Entourage star Adrian Grenier steps behind the camera as director on the documentary Teenage Paparazzo which premieres on HBO September 27th. The film follows a 13 year-old member of the paparazzi named  Austin Visschedyk, whom Grenier met one night, chatted with and became fascinated with the teenage celebrity obsessed photographer. A bevy of big names appear in the film, including Grenier's Entourage co-stars as well as Whoopi Goldberg, Michelle Rodriquez, Perez Hilton, Mario Lopez and Rosie O'Donnell. *** The hit Courteney Cox Arquette series Cougar Town starts it's sophomore season on September 22nd with a special guest appearance by Courteney's BFF and former Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston. Sorry to report that unlike Jen's prior guest role in Courteney's short lived series DIRT, there will be no girl on girl kissing action this time around. ***  The new CBS series $#*! My Dad Says, starring William Shatner premieres September 23rd and, though it's concept has no direct Gay angle, it does come from Will & Grace creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan which pretty much guarantees a $#*!load of laughs. *** Not sure if Katy Perry will kiss a girl during her September 25th performance on Saturday Night Live but Amy Poehler will be guest host.  ***

Derek & Romaine, better known as  talk radio hosts Derek Hartley and Romaine Patterson on SIRIUS 109 and XM 98 will be broadcasting their show from the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center on September 27, 29 & 30. ***  And last but not least,Chris Colfer's character on Glee will be getting a boyfriend in the form of actor Chord Overstreet. Before you say "wasn't he married to Erica Kane?" yes it does sound like a soap opera character.  Chord is a virtual unknown with credits that include a one shot appearance on iCarly and the new super hero series No Ordinary Family. He will also be seen in the film Warrior with Queer As Folk veteran Chris Potter and Kellan Lutz (The Twilight Saga.) ***
